Farmers in North Rift are grappling with difficult times thanks to a weevils' attack on their crops.The difficulty has also been compounded by the political uncertainty in the country.The governor of Uasin Gishu, Jackson Mandago has called on the government to write off the debts of the farmers as they are not in a position to service debts.''There has been an attack of weevils that has greatly affected crops and reduced harvests. Farmers are as a result not in a position to pay debts. We are asking the government to forgive the farmers their debts,'' Governor Mandago said today.Mandago warned that failure to forgive the farmers the debt would plunge the country into a food crisis.
