[Photo/Courtesy]Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has pledged to champion peaceful campaigns in the August 8 elections.He said elections should not be used to divide Kenyans on tribal and political cocoons."I recently held a meeting with all the candidates from Jubillee party from the North Rift region and agreed to conduct our campaigns in a  peaceful manner," he said at the Mother of Apostle Seminary, Saturday."I challenge other candidates eyeing for various elective posts to do the same," he added. He reiterated that they are working tirelessly to ensure insecurity in prone areas like Baringo, West Pokot and Kerio Valley is resolved amicably.Mandago applauded Bishop Cornelius Korir for being at the forefront in spearheading peace and cohesion in North Rift and the country at large.On his part Bishop Cornelius Korir thanked the governor for working to ensure that peace is maintained during this electioneering period."I call upon Uasin Gishu residents to play a role by ensuring we have a peaceful election free violence," noted Bishop Korir.
