Hassan says owners of such structures were using them for drugs trafficking and illegal brew.

“I want to applaud and support the county government move of demolishing illegal structures since they have led to the increase of insecurity in the county as they are being used to harbor criminals who terrorize residents,” said the Uasin Gishu County Commissioner while addressing the press in Eldoret, Wednesday.

“We will partner with the county government to ensure that security of residents is guaranteed and anyone who will be found terrorizing residents will be dealt with ruthlessly,” added Hassan.

He further declared war on all criminal gangs in the country saying he has received reports from the public over houses being broken into and people killed by armed gangsters during the night saying "this will be a thing of the past in some days to come."

The County Commissioner noted that the security team has put in place several mechanisms such deploying more police officers in insecurity prone areas to conduct frequent patrols.

"I have deployed more security officers in areas such as Langas, Kamukunji, Huruma and Munyaka areas where we have received increased cases of insecurity,” said Hassan.
