The report mentioned Uasin Gishu among 32 counties that employ over 97 per cent of people from local tribes.

The Jubilee governor however dismissed the report, saying the county is a cosmopolitan area therefore employment is given on merit and not on tribal basis.

Speaking to journalists in Eldoret on Thursday, Mandago termed the report as malicious and whose aim was to kill devolution.

"I am very saddened by such reports that we are hiring people on the basis of tribes, in fact my CeC for environment is a Kikuyu," he said.

"I urge Francis Ole Kaparo (NCIC chairman) to concentrate on bringing people together rather than dividing them, such reports may divide Kenyans along tribal lines which might lead to violence," he added.

He however urged Eldoret residents to peacefully coexist with each other and shun politicians who want to incite them against other tribe.
