Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has submitted to the county assembly for vetting names of three County Executive Committee Members (CeCs) he has appointed to be in charge of various departments.
In a letter dated September 25, addressed to the Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker, Mandago said he had nominated Joseph Kurgat to be in charge of Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Sports and Social Services department and Julius Ruto as the CeC in charge of Finance and Economic Planning.
This technically means the CeC's currently holding the two positions, Enock Muigei (Education) and Shadrack Sambai (Finance) have been sacked.
The governor however retained Eng. Gideon Birir as the CeC in charge of Roads, Transport, Energy and Public Works.
"Pursuant to article 179 (2) of the Kenyan Constitution 2010 and section 30 (2) (d) and 35 of the County Government Act, I hereby forward the following nominees for the positions of the County Executive Committee members for statutory vetting," reads part of the letter by governor Mandago to the County Assembly Speaker.
"The outstanding seven (7) names will be availed to the House in due course," added the governor in the letter.
While notifying the Assembly over the appointments, Deputy County Assembly Speaker directed relevant committee's to vet the nominees and table their recommendations to the Assembly for considerations by the MCA's.
