In a bid to ensure he gets a share of the non-Kalenjin votes, Uasin Gidhu governor Jackson Mandago has for the past one week taken his campaigns to areas around Eldoret town.

Mandago who is facing a formidable competition from tycoon Zedekiah Bundotich popularly known as Buzeki, has so far visited Kapsoya, Kiplombe, Kipkenyo and Kimumu wards all largely occupied by the non Kalenjins.

During his vote-hunting missions in those areas, the governor has been assuring the locals of their security during and after the general elections.

"As your governor I want to assure you that this county will remain peaceful after August 8 and whatever you are doing today you will continue doing after the elections without any disruptions," Mandago said during a visit at Ngomongo estate, Kimumu ward, Wednesday.

"On the election day all you need to do is wake up early go to vote and return to your normal activities as you wait for the results," he added.

The governor had earlier visited mechanics at the Eldoret main garage where he assured them of his government's commitment to supporting them financially once they form Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (Sacco).

Buzeki is believed to be enjoying a huge support of the non Kalenjin voters most of whom live in Eldoret town and other major urban centres across the county.
