Uasin Gishu County Governor Jackson Mandago has dismissed claims that allocation of funds for devolved units are being centered to Governors.
Mandago said the process of developing county budgets involves public participation from the grassroots level with all stakeholders input being put in consideration before being taken the county assemblies for approval.
"The process of making the budget goes through public participation then to the county legislation," said Mandago.
Speaking on behalf of the Governors during the ongoing devolution conference in Kakamega, Mandago said that devolution was working and according to the law.
The vocal county boss serving his second term in office said; "we are going to support fully the Ward Development Fund (WDF) once the Senate amend and pass the public finance management act."
He also noted that as Governors they are ready to account for the funds they spent and honor summons from the Senators for the purpose of accountability and transparency.
This comes even as some of the ward representatives have accused their governors of solely running the county budget and fleeing from accountability and oversight from county assemblies.
