Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has urged elected leaders across the country to put to a hold any discussions about the 2022 general elections.

Mandago says it's time the leaders focused on delivering the mandate they were bestowed upon by the people during the August 8 general elections.

Speaking in Eldoret town on Saturday, Mandago said talks about 2022 politics is premature.

"We've spent a lot of time engaging in politics and it's time we shifted focus to seeing how to address challenges our people are facing as that's is one of the reasons they voted for us," Mandago noted.

"We just came from an electioneering period and I find it totally premature to start speaking of who will be this and that in another election which comes four years from now," he added.

He, however, called for unity and utmost trust among the Kalenjin leaders especially as the community hopes one of their own, Deputy President William Ruto will be vying for the country's top seat after the retirement President Uhuru Kenyatta. Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Uasin Gishu that you want Hivisasa to cover?
