Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has asked NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga to formally withdraw from the presidential race if he is not ready for the repeat election.

Speaking during a series of campaign rallies to drum up support for President Uhuru Kenyatta in Nyeri on Sunday, Mandago said Supreme Court's directive that repeat poll be conducted within 60 days must be followed.

"We as Jubilee are ready for elections and if Raila isn't ready let him write a letter to IEBC withdrawing from the race rather than taking Kenyans in circles," Mandago noted.

"Kenyans should be allowed to elect their preferred leaders and once they have made their decision everybody should respect their verdict," he added.

The governor who chairs the North Rift Jubilee Presidential campaigns further defended amendments to the elections laws saying they are meant to seal loopholes outlined by Supreme Court when it nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta's win in August polls.

Mandago who was accompanied by other Jubilee leaders from Central and Rift valley asked Kenyans to reelect the Jubilee government and allow it continue with the development agenda.

"Let's vote for development. President Kenyatta's administration has achieved a lot since 2013 and he deserves a second term," he said.
