Uasin Gishu County government on Tuesday unveiled bursary kitty worth Sh135 for bright and needy students who have stayed at home due to lack of fees.
According to Uasin Gishu County governor Jackson Mandago, the funds will be distribute equally at the ward level.
"We have unveiled a bursary worth Ksh135 million and we will ensure that each needy child will benefit from the fund. Since we started giving the fund over 100,000 students have benefited," said Mandago during the exercise.
He added: "Of the Ksh135 million each ward will be allocated Ksh4.5 million. We don't want any student to stay at home due to lack of fees."
The County Chief said his government would continue sponsoring 60 students per ward at Rift valley Technical Training Institute to pursue technical courses.
"We want our students to be equipped with technical skills to prevent a situation where we export labour from foreign countries," noted county boss.
