Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has urged matatu and bus drivers to drive carefully especially during the upcoming festive season.

“It is very sad that just last week we have lost 12 residents of this county at Salgaa who were traveling from Nairobi. Drivers have an obligation of ensuring the safety of their passengers during and after the festive season,” he said in Eldoret town, Wednesday.

“I call upon drivers to adhere to traffic rules to curb accidents. For heaven sake, many lives are being lost on our roads due to reckless driving. We want everyone to celebrate Christmas alive,” he added.

He also urged the National Transport and Licensing Authority (NTSA) to revoke licenses for drivers flouting the traffic rules.

“NTSA should carry out regular patrols on our roads for sanity to prevail since most drive faster and recklessly for them to carry more passengers at the end of the day. Let us have a free accident festive season,” noted Mandago.
