Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago now wants the Jubilee party to use Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission's (IEBC) voter register in the upcoming nominations.
This, the governor says will ensure everybody in the county takes part in the process of picking their preferred leaders.
Speaking to the press in Eldoret, Mandago noted Uasin Gishu was a Jubilee zone therefore there was no need to use the party's smart card which he said could lock out the elderly who never bothered to be registered as members of the party.
The governor further said aspirants in the county had agreed that only national identity cards and the IEBC register would be used during the party primaries set for April 21.
"For a fair playing ground during the nominations, we as Uasin Gishu have agreed that a voter will only be required to carry his/her ID and we want the IEBC register used on that day," noted Mandago.
"This is a jubilee zone and we want everybody to be part of nominations and more importantly to the elderly who don't know how to use the smartcards," he added.
