Mandago said that for the judicial arm of the government to ensure justice is dispensed expeditiously, more funds need to be allocated.

"When we were in Eldoret the same request was made, we want additional judges," said Mandago.

Speaking in Kisumu on Friday during the opening of the Kisumu law courts, the Uasin Gishu governor said that the judiciary must be independent and that he witnessed its independence when it ruled that the CDF is unconstitutional.

"Devolution is the answer of the inequalities we have in the country for the last 50 years," he added.

Speaking at the same event, Chief Justice Willy Mutunga said that during his visit in Nyandarua, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Vihiga, Kakamega, Bungoma and Kisumu counties, he realised that resources have arrived at the grassroots.

Mutunga said that the egos and sideshows of MPs, senators and governors who represent citizens will end up hurting the development of counties.

"I don't understand why MPs, senators and governors cannot sit down and prioritise what the county needs so that there is equitable  distribution of resources," said Dr Mutunga.
