Uasin Gishu County Governor Jackson Arap Mandago has declared that his administration will strictly observe the Physical Planning Act when approving development plans in his last term.
Speaking during a diaspora public participation on development of the second generation of the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) in Nairobi on Thursday, Mandago said that his government cannot continue approving buildings and be the one condemning the same on account of being illegal.
He retaliated that actions will be taken against government officials who approve illegal structures in the County.
“Investors have in the past fallen victim of circumstances of rogue government officials who approve illegal structures; I am warning my officers who will dare approve the same,” said the county boss.
“Going forward investors will no longer continue counting losses for I will surcharge any officer who will be involved in this illegal business,” he added.
In a well-attended meeting that brought together, professionals living and working in Nairobi, Mandago warned land grabbers saying that his administration will not condone encroachment of any public utility adding that the public utilities were for the good of everyone.
He asked the professionals to consider investing in Uasin Gishu saying the environment currently was favorable.
“As an incentive and building capacity to local investors, I am pleased to inform you that a special area was reserved for local investors in the upcoming Africa Economic Zone (AEZ) in Plateau at a lower cost so take advantage of it,” posed the governor amid cheers from the crowd.
“I am challenging the software developers here to be the first to go for space in the area because technology is moving fast,” he added.
