Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has warned corrupt and lazy county employees, saying they risk being axed.

He said civil servants are employed to serve Kenyans free of charge and are supposed to be in office during official working hours to serve the residents.

“It is sad that some employees ask for money before they serve clients, I want to give a stern warning to such people that stern actions will be taken against them, thereafter relieved their duties,” he said in Eldoret town, Monday.

“County employees are mandated to serve residents from 8 am to 5 pm. I won't tolerate such lazy employees. I urge residents to play an oversight role by reporting any county worker soliciting bribes in exchange for services, and anyone who is not in office during working hours,” he added.

He also urged matatu drivers to ensure they drive safely during this festive season to avoid deaths.
