Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has warned leaders misappropriating public funds, saying his government has no room for such individuals.

Speaking in his office on Tuesday, Mandago said all beneficiaries of corruption, both in the national or county government, should pack and leave their positions, to give way to more competent and transparent individuals who are ready to serve mwananchi fully.

“There are top leaders who are squandering public funds meant for betterment of people’s lives, and if asked to account for the money, they purport to be targeted politically. Such leaders should just pack and go since we don’t have room for such selfish individuals,” said Mandago, further warning such individuals that their days are numbered.

He noted that leaders were elected to take care of the common mwanachi funds, by making sure it is used well and not to be pocketed by few self-centered individuals for their own benefits.

“I urge Wananachi to stay vigilant and report any corrupt officer in their midst and I promise stern actions will be taken against him/her since I don’t compromise when it comes to corruption, and they should not fear to ask leaders how their funds have been used,” he added.
