The North Rift Economic Block (Noreb) chairman Jackson Mandago has asked recently elected governors in the region to work closely with their reelected counterparts in ensuring the region attains its development targets.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony for the reelected Turkana governor Josphat Nanok and his deputy Peter Lotethiro in Lodwar on Saturday, Mandago who is the Uasin Gishu governor-elect reiterated the need for devolved units in the region to work as a team for the benefit of the locals.
He however expressed optimism with the governors elected in the regions saying they have the ability of steering Noreb to greater heights.
"As the current chairman of Noreb, I am very optimistic that the current crop of elected leaders in this region will work hand in hand towards realization of togetherness and leverage on economies of scale as we seek to develop our region," Mandago noted.
Noreb brings together eight counties in the North Rift region which are Turkana, West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Baringo and Samburu.Of the eight counties, only three new governors, Stephen Sang (Nandi), John Lonyangapuo (West Pokot) and Baringo's Stanly Kiptis while the other five were reelected.
