Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has spoken strongly ahead of a North Rift leaders' meeting in Kainuk aimed at fostering peace in the region.The governor said that elements responsible for instability in the region would be dealt with firmly to send a strong message that peace was the only way.

''We are very committed to peace and tranquility in this region. Peace in the North Rift region is a top priority for us. We are interrelated in terms of economy. We have come here to show wananchi that we have made a very very strong decision to work together. As leaders, we stand very strongly to say that those elements disturbing peace are dealt with by the law,'' Governor Jackson Mandago.

He said that the North Rift region has the potential of powering the Kenyan economy.

He also said that Turkana County would be transformed into a livestock hub.The meeting will come up with recommendations on how to unlock the huge untapped potential of the North Rift region.
