Some people argue that it is a matter of faith while others feel that it is because our army is on their soil. But what really is it that they want from Kenya?
The Mandera attack that happened on Thursday that left six dead and 25 others injured is just a reminder of the many times that the Al-shabaab militia group has left Kenya mourning.
Before we can even forget one incident, another one occurs. Our hearts no longer know peace. We lose our own people and before the wounds in our hearts heal, they are pricked with a painful thorn of more bloodshed.
If it is defending one's faith, can it not be done without bloodshed? Human blood is sacred and no human sacrifice is worth any religion. Using faith to justify terrorism is just a misled argument.
One wonders whether these people are really humans or they have been cross bred with a certain animal species. Which sober human attacks their fellow humans when they are asleep with no particular reason?
Some years ago, Kenya boasted to be one of the most peaceful countries in Africa. But things have since changed. Human blood is shed as easily as slaughtering a chicken in Western Kenya.
We live like we are squatters in our very own country where our fathers fought for day and night. We live with fear that someone may attack us anytime yet peace is what our fathers fought for. Kenya has shed a lot of blood out of terror. She has lost many of her children to it.
Maybe she lost her way somewhere and should retrace her steps to see where she missed a step for the sake of her children. Her children no longer know peace.
May she arise once again and live to celebrate the white colour on her flag. May all the nations know that Kenya is a lover of peace. She fights no one and thus should be left in peace.
