A past bus attack in northern eastern town of Mandera during which Muslims faithfuls shielded Christians from radicalized Al-Shabab militants is the subject of a newly released fictional film adaptation that largely focuses on religious coexistence and integration.

The movie dubbed 'Watu Wote'  a Swahili for “All of Us,” has its plot based on the tragic militant ambush of a Mandera bound bus in mid December 2015.

In the attack, gunmen sprayed the Mandera bound with bullets, instantly killing several passengers. More casualties were later recorded as the assailants asked the remaining 62 passengers to identify all the Christian passengers on board.

However, the Muslim passengers refused, telling the scary militants to butcher everyone aboard the vehicle or leave.

Salah Farah, a high school teacher who was brutally shot during the incident and latter succumbed to gunshot wounds weeks later, became a unifying symbol.

With the launch of the film, it is expected that Kenyan muslims and their christian counterparts will be more united by the work of art.
