Mandera County’s Ministry of education today received 25 computers and 90 sewing machines.
The project was funded by European Union through Aga Khan Foundation and partner’s Islamic relief Kenya and national council for nomadic education.
The governor noted that they welcome those complementing their development efforts and strategies to plug the gaps in capacity building among the youth.
“This donation will go a long way in upgrading skills and abilities of our youth. Equipping youth for the job market is a critical intervention which help strengthen Mandera County’s education and skills base, supporting the transition toward a modern market-based economy and promoting inclusive growth and job creation,” noted Roba.
The governor noted that the county government has an enrollment of 228 students and over 300 enrolled in the polytechnics.
The County boss noted that they have invested in tertiary institutions with target to chum out skilled group of locals to fit their unique circumstances.
Roba added that they have invested in a teacher training College to bridge the gaps occasioned by teachers who fled on grounds of terror fears and extreme weather.
“I urge our development partners to align themselves to the aspirations of the government so that through collective synergy we contribute to well-being of the Mandera population,” noted Governor Roba.
