Speaking during an interview on KTN News Friday, the outgoing Mandera West lawmaker told the 11- member Garre council of elders to focus on other issues as they had since lost the political clout they wielded in the county days back.

"The Garrre council of elders should know that they no longer have any political influence whatsoever as far as the politics of Mandera county is concerned. They'd better find something else to do," he said.

Mohammud is among a host of politicians who went ahead to win elective posts in the county despite the elders' ultimatum that they should not seek any post during the August 8 polls although he regrets that the decision has greatly divided the county.

Another key politician who defied the ultimatum and won was governor Ali Roba who successfully defended his gubernatorial seat.
