Ward representatives in Mandera have appealed for help to help combat drought in the county.

The MCAs led by Arabia MCA Abdiaziz Dakat Maalim said the drought situation especially in Arabia ward is worsening day by day at a high rate.

Maalim said that livestock in the area has started dying due to lack of water and pasture.

He called for intervention saying the county government was only given one water bowser to supply water to locals.

"The one water bowser given to the county is not enough to supply water to all the residents. The National government should do something urgently before more deaths are reported", he said.

Drought authority official Hussein Mohamud Ibrahim said they are in the process of supplying hay to animals.

"Hay will be supplied to herders to give their animals as we are appealing other stakeholders to intervene and help contain the situation before it gets out of hand," said Hussein.
