Residents of Manga area in Borabu constituency have condemned the brutal death a local dispensary doctor who was found dead near his house, accusing the police of being behind the murder.

Speaking to Hivisasa.com on Tuesday, they linked the death and rampant insecurity in the area to police officers from Manga, accusing them of colluding with criminals to execute the crimes.

They claimed that an armed gang that has been terrorising area residents wears official administration police uniforms and nothing has been done despite several incidents that have allegedly been reported.

“This is quite unusual. It is impossible for someone to be shot dead just few kilometres from the police station and the perpetrators escape without being noticed. They have been terrorising us and I think this is the seventh incident,” said Alfayo Omao.

“Several victims, some of whom are still in the hospitals nursing serious gun wounds, have reported that the perpetrators have always been spotted in police uniforms. Nothing concrete has been done and that is why I suspect that the security officers are aware of what is going on,” added James Ochengo.

Borabu deputy OCS Gibson Mwangi, however, vindicated the police from the claims but vowed to pursue the criminals who have so far killed three people in separate incidents.

“We understand that Dr Wilson Onsomu of Manga dispensary was shot but that that doesn’t mean police are behind it," the police boss said.

"We are still pursuing the criminals and those with reports of police uniform may not be justified. The criminals will be cornered.”
