At least 100 women from three women groups from Manga Sub County have a reason to smile, after area MP donated Sh500,000 towards their dairy farming business.
The three; Manga women Group, Nyanza Smart Ladies and Young Women Entrepreneurs impressed the constituency leadership, after starting dairy farming that has seen the supply of milk in the region improve drastically.
On Sunday, Hon. Timothy Bosire reiterated his commitment towards helping women and youth groups from the region, but cautioned residents from ganging with ill motived politicians whose aim is to derail development in the region.
“I want to put it clear today that I have been passionately supporting women and youths from the entire constituency. The Sh500,00 that I have given today is solely for improvement of dairy farming that is done here. I would like to urge all residents to support my development initiatives and desist from being used by political detractors,” he said.
The first time ODM legislator, who is also the National Treasurer of the party further urged county MCAs to invest more in farming, since it’s an integral part of the economy in the region.
“Agriculture is a back bone not only in the county but countrywide. Time has come for our MCAs to pass critical bills that will see the sector receive more funding other that the Sh160 million we saw for the 2015/16 financial year,” he said.
Bosire defended his position of being critical of the Jubilee government, by saying that it was the role of the opposition to act as a watchdog to ensure the government was run in a transparent manner.
“I am happy to be in the opposition because I believe as the opposition, we are doing well. Those criticizing me are not informed. The government of the day must work for all Kenyans indiscriminately,” he said.
