Former Devolution and Planning Principal Secretary (PS) Peter Mangiti has been arrested by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
This is after he was grilled by the National Assembly Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and the anti-graft agency, over Sh1.8 billion NYS scandal.
Mangiti who stepped aside to pave way for investigations, has arrested alongside 12 other suspects implicated in the scam.
They were grilled by the EACC detectives at the agency's offices before being taken to Milimani Law Courts, where they will be charged.
As the Ministry's accounting officer then, Mangiti is accused of facilitating the theft.
He has however been defending himself, saying he played no role in the scam.
The arresting of the 13, comes a day after ex-NYS deputy director general Adan Harakhe lost his bid to block prosecution.
He is set to face charges over NYS scam after the High Court lifts temporary restraining order.
