Police in Kilimani have launched manhunt for suspected thugs who snatched a communication gadget from a security officer in the area.
Kilimani police boss Joseph Muthee said a team of officers was patrolling Ngumo area near the railway line on Saturday night when a motorcycle carrying four men approached them.
When the officers stopped the rider for interrogation, Muthee told The Standard, one of the passengers grabbed a pocket phone from a police officer and the rider sped off.
The police boss said one of the criminals was armed with a pistol, which he used to fire at the security officers as they sped off.
"Fortunately no officer was injured. One of our officers also fired back, but missed," Muthee told the local daily.
Police in the area are also looking for robbers who shot dead an M-Pesa operator on the eve of Christmas Day.
