Kiambu Health executive Mwangi Manjari has directed fumigants to be dispersed to bedbug infested residents of Kiganjo in Thika.
The residents came to light today (Wednesday) after news spread that they are gabbling to come into terms with the pests.
Manjari said that majority of Kiganjo residents have been battling with the pest due to high level of poverty.
“Poor hygiene in the area has caused widespread of bedbugs which is posing a health crisis,” said Manjari.
Manjari said that the health sector is concerned with the menace and would do everything to contain the situation .
“ I have directed health personnel in Kiganjo to fumigate the affected housed holds,” said Manjari.
Some residents complained that the situation was serious to an extent of making conjugal rights to be a night mare .
Speaking today at Kiambu Town, Manjari said that the county government is adopting measures that would improve the health care to all sub-counties .
“The county government has put in place mechanisms to ensure Kiambu residents access better health care,” said Manjari.
He assured residents that drugs have been purchased from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KMSA) and they have been distributed to all medical facilities in the county .
Manjari also urged the residents to support the county's effort in the provision of accessible and affordable healthcare.
