Kesses Member of Parliament Swarup Mishra has defended Jubilee Party's move to amend the Election Law to entrench manual transmission of results.

He said this will ensure elections are free and fair.

"We are not replacing electronic with manual but the manual declaration will be used as a legal basis for the final declaration of results, with the electronic system only serving as a back-up," he said in Eldoret town, Monday.

"We want to ensure that the October 26 presidential election is conducted in free and fair manner and no party cries foul," he added.

He reiterated that the law will also bar returning officers from messing up with the process since they will be jailed, according to the proposed amendments.

Mishra urged Kenyans to vote for President Uhuru Kenyatta in the forth coming poll.

"President Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have transformed this country in their 5 years in office therefore deserve a second chance to continue with their projects," he said.
