A man accused of killing his brother will undergo a mental assessment before he can be allowed to take a plea, the court sitting in Eldoret ruled on Monday.
The suspect, Wellington Wawire Ngutuku appeared in court before Eldoret magistrate Harrison Barasa.
Barasa directed that the accused be taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital to determine whether he is fit to take the plea.
Ngutuku is accused of killing his brother identified Patrick Barasa Ngutuku on March 8 this year at their home in Chevaywa village, Kakamega County.
The magistrate also directed the prosecution to serve the accused with charge sheets.
The case will be mentioned on April 17, 2018.
