[Photo|PSCU]Deputy President William Ruto has continued to attack the Judiciary, after the High Court cancelled the presidential ballot paper printing tender from Al Ghurair firm.Ruto questioned why judges with relatives in the opposition were appointed to preside over the cases against the IEBC "while it was obvious they would be biased."It is alleged that Judge David Odunga is related to Nasa co-convener Siaya senator James Orengo, while Orengo is related to Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga. “Where is the independence of the judiciary when judges who are relatives of those who have cases with us are appointed to preside over the cases," he said, Monday.Speaking during Jubilee Party tour of Turkana County, Ruto added: "Help us to understand what happens when appointed judges unapologetically show that they are biased?”This indirectly went to Chief Justice David Maraga. He attacked the opposition, saying it was trying to scuttle the election process through 'unnecessary' court cases, saying their alleged intention to force for a coalition government would not succeed. “They first said they have no confidence with the commissioners, they forced them out of office, then they went to court to saying they have issues with BVR kits now I'm told they have gone to court again to challenge the process of election result transmission,” said Ruto. The DP said Jubilee was ready for the August polls and they would not allow the opposition to derail the electoral process. He challenged the judiciary to maintain and demonstrate its independence, saying Jubilee Party was not comfortable with some of the judgement passed which "show open bias towards the opposition." “What are we supposed to make when a bench is made up of people who have family connections with some of our competitors,” asked Ruto.
