Chief Justice David Maraga has dismissed allegations that the Judiciary has been divided as a result of politics.

According to Maraga, no judicial officer is allied to any political outfit.

“I have not heard anything of that kind (division in the judiciary over politics), the judiciary is non-political,” said Justice Maraga.

Maraga was speaking in Mombasa on the sidelines of the annual judges’ colloquium.

He further affirmed that the judiciary was prepared to handle election petitions that will arise from the August 8 polls.

“We are prepared to handle the petitions and complete hearing them in accordance to the period set in the Constitution,” he said.
