Chief Justice David Maraga has informed lawyers across the country that they will be filing their election petitions and cases electronically from 2018.
He said the move will help in dispensing justice by easing the backlog of cases in the judiciary.
"We plan that come 2018, lawyers will be forced to file electronically starting with the commercial division," said Maraga.
In preparation for the rollover, Maraga said a section of the Judiciary staff will tour Zambia and Ethiopia for benchmarking.
"Since the judiciary revenue collection was automated we have seen the amount collected rise from Sh500 million to Sh2.3 billion annually meaning that we have to embrace technology," he said.
Maraga who was sworn into office on October 19, 2016 made the announcement at the end of the four-day workshop for judges of the High Court held in Great Rift Valley Lodge in Naivasha.
