The Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Film Classification Board Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, has been featured in the inaugural list of 100 Most Reputable Africans by Reputation Poll, a leading global reputation-management consulting company in recognition of his campaign for clean content.
The CEO termed the recognition as a continental and national appreciation for the organization’s and the Board's relentless efforts in promoting cultural values, national aspirations and morality through broadcast content regulation.
“Our continued efforts at the Kenya Film Classification Board to ensure clean content in the film and broadcast sector are without a doubt the reason for this nomination,” he said in his appreciation message upon learning about the nomination.
"It's gratifying to see that the global community acknowledges KFCB’s relentless efforts for positive social change in Kenya, particularly the campaign on child-online safety in the wake of emerging technologies," Mutua said in a statement.
“As we continue to fight for what is right for our children we strongly believe that they are the future and we have a duty to ensure that their moral perspectives are not ruined through premature exposure to adult content,” he added.
Kenya’s Justice David Maraga (Chief Justice), Professor Ruth Oniang’o (Founder, Rural Outreach Africa), Julie Gichuru (CEO, African Leadership Dialogues) Amb. Dr. Josephine Ojiambo (Deputy Secretary General, Commonwealth), Angela Ndambuki (CEO Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Prof. Patrick Lumumba (Director Kenya School of Law), Lupita Nyong’o - Actress and Dr. Monica Kerrets-Makau (Senior Faculty, Strathmore Business School) were also ranked in the 2018 Reputation Poll Release.
The list features personalities from diverse sectors including: Leadership, fight against corruption, governance, Entertainment, Advocacy, Education and Business with a representation from 33 African Countries with 55 males and 45 females.
Dr. Mutua was listed with other prominent personalities including presidents Cyril Ramaphosa (South Africa), Paul Kagame (Rwanda), Ameenah Gurib (Mauritius), Former presidents Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (Liberia), Joyce Banda (Malawi), Vice presidents Inonge Wina (Zambia) and Yemi Osinbanjo (Nigeria).
