The 2017 elections will be recorded in the annals of our history as the most difficult elections ever to be held in Kenyan soil.

Never in our history have we witnessed the annulment of a Presidential vote as was the case after the 8th August 2017 poll.

Yet this act tested our institutions to the breaking-point and near precipice situation.

That we have emerged with a few healable bruises is indeed testimony that we have grown democratically as a nation since the dark days of a one party system.

Whereas we may have witnessed a few gaps in our institutions, they still soldiered on solidly to perform their duties courageously.

I will single out the Supreme Court which became the subject of taunts and hostility earlier when they annulled the election of President Uhuru.

Justice Maraga and his bench was able to demonstrate that it is only facts that can sell in the market of justice. They were able to dismiss the petitions because, unlike in their September-poll ruling, there was no substance in the second batch of petitions.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission equally did its best against a hostile political environment from rogue politicians whose only tool of trade is violence.

For once, we can be proud as Kenyans that we still value the rule of law.

To Chebukati and Maraga, we are sorry for heaping the political madness of our nation on your shoulders.

We look forward to dialogue as a nation to find more ways to accomadate each other.
