Chief Justice David Maraga should remain professional despite criticism from politicians, government spokesman Eric Kiraithe has said.

This follows attacks from a section of Jubilee party politicians criticizing CJ Maraga for nullifying president Uhuru Kenyatta's victory in the August 8 election.

But, Kiraithe said it is wrong for the politicians to brand the judiciary.

Kiraithe said Maraga should ignore the criticism since everybody is allowed to give opinions.

"Maraga has the capacity to ignore those people who are branding the judiciary", he said.He defended Uhuru's 'wakora' comment saying the Opposition took advantage of the word politicizing it.

Kiraithe noted the Supreme Court president has to keep his eyes on the ball, remain consistent and deliver a full judgement of the ruling.

He added that the disagreements following the historic judgement are not strange in any way.

He said the government respects the independence of Judiciary and Maraga with his team should not shy away from attacks.

"We should take them for what they are. Let them give the judgement," he said.

Kiraithe was addressing the media in Mombasa on Friday.
