Chief Justice David Maraga has condemned an incident where alleged Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru's supporters blocked former gubernatorial candidate Martha Karua from accessing Kerugoya courts.Karua who had earlier filed a petition challenging Waiguru's win during the August 8 polls, had gone to court on Monday for the hearing of her case. The demonstrators barricaded the road blocking Karua’s vehicle. She was in the company of her lawyer Gitobu Imanyara. The rowdy protesters also burned an effigy of the Narc-Kenya leader outside the court premises, accusing her of being a NASA agent in the county.Addressing journalists at the Supreme Court on Tuesday, Maraga noted such an act of intimidating petitioners will not be tolerated again."In a particular unfortunate incident, yesterday (Monday) in Kirinyaga county, honorable Matha Karua was blocked by demonstrators from accessing the Kerugoya law courts hearing for the hearing of her petition. This amounts to intimidation of petitioners and shall never be allowed to happen," said Maraga.
