Chief Justice David Maraga on Wednesday met Mombasa Governor Ali Hasaan Joho in his Mombasa office.The CJ thanked Governor Joho for giving the Judiciary a chance to put a new building. He also thanked the council of governors for the good working relationship between them and the Judiciary.Maraga added that he was thankful to governors for not inking judicial officers to any political decide whenever they visit a governor’s office."I have no inhibitions when I go to Joho's office or any other governor's office. I am glad they appreciate our neutrality and do not draw us into their political battles," said Maraga.Maraga then proceeded to Commission a building funded by the world Bank at a cost sh 445 m.The project had stalled for 6 years after the land had been grabbed by an unscrupulous business man.However the Ministry of land together with the National Land Commission (NLC) return the 1.44 hectares land to the Judiciary.The building is expected to be a four story and house different departments of the house Court and other lower courts.He also said that the Members of the public will soon use digital technology platforms to monitor their cases instead of relying on lawyers.
