October 26th presidential repeat poll results will still suffer the same fate as the annulled August 8th polls, acknowledges Ex – IEBC commissioner Roselyn Akombe.
After seven months in the commission, the outspoken commissioner bolted out on Wednesday citing her personal security and external interference as top reasons for her exit.
“It is not too late to save our country from this crisis. We just need a few men and women of integrity to rise up and say that we cannot proceed with October 26th polls as planned,” she said in a statement.
Already, opposition leader Raila Odinga has bowed out of the race citing lack of reforms within the commission in which he is calling for resignation of a few officers.
With resistance from a section of commissioners, Akombe said, the Supreme Court could easily nullify the outcome should anybody challenge it.
“Decision making is done in voting and some commissioners come just to vote. We have done little changes and I cannot be part of the process which could probably be annulled.”
While Chairman Wafula Chebukati insists that he may not be able to deliver free and fair polls, President Uhuru Kenyatta insists that elections will go on as planned.
