The Council of Governors has appealed to Chief Justice David Maraga to protect devolution.
Through chairman Peter Munya, the governors urged Maraga to emulate retired CJ Willy Mutunga in supporting devolution.
"As governors, we welcome Maraga's appointment. Justice Mutunga saved devolution a lot and i hope Maraga will do the same," said Munya.
Munya was speaking on Sunday when he received the Devolution Torch that is going around in all 47 counties in celebration of four years of devolution.
"The Judiciary is a very vital arm of government that can protect devolution. We know the CJ will have many challenges in the dispensation of his duties but we plead with him to ensure devolution is protected," said Munya.
The Meru governor further called on Maraga to remain independent and not serve interests of anybody.
