Chief Justice David Maraga insists President Uhuru Kenyatta was elected in accordance to the constitution adding that planned swearing-in of Raila Odinga inconsequential.

A defiant Raila insists of taking presidential oath next week, arguing that IEBC manipulated August presidential results.

"Uhuru Kenyatta was validly elected in October elections. The matter was brought to the judiciary and we ruled on the matter. Any contrary swearing-in is against the law," said a letter purportedly from Maraga's office that has gone viral.

Last year in September, The Supreme Court invalidated Uhuru's victory, ordering repeat polls which Raila boycotted on grounds that reforms within IEBC had not been effected.

And in the letter, Maraga warns that disciplinary actions will be taken against any judge who may attempt to swear in Raila.

"No judge is expected to participate in an exercise that is not valid. We shall take stern disciplinary measures against that individual," adds the letter.

Amendments to election laws by MPs last year, paves way for any Judge to swear in a presidential election winner, an exercise that was initially done by the Chief Justice only.

But speaking from Mombasa, Maraga has since disowned the letter, saying that his office has never authored such a letter adding that he has no powers to warn judges against swearing-in any individual.
