Chief Justice David Maraga was on Saturday seen at Nairobi Central S.D.A church deep in prayer before the pre-trial conference which kicks off on Monday, November 13, 2017, at the Supreme Court.

Chief Justice Maraga's devotion to his religion was demonstrated to the Judicial Service Commission panel who were interviewing him when he told them that he would not sit in court on Sabbath no matter how grave the situation would be.

The second round of Presidential petitions come in the wake of civil society groups presenting petitions at the Supreme Court seeking to challenge the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta following the November 26, 2017, poll.

Amongst those who have filed petitions at the court challenging Uhuru's re-election are former Kilome Member of Parliament and business magnate Harun Mwau and the controversial civil society activist Okiya Omtata.

The cases present a precarious situation for Judge Maraga considering the current state of mistrust in the Nation.

NASA leader former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has maintained that there should be a repeat of credible elections within 90 days with a new electoral body in charge. He continues to maintain that he will not recognize Uhuru's presidency.

Jubilee Alliance Party has equally reiterated that there will be no talks before President Uhuru is sworn in.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has affirmed his willingness to sit down for unconditional talks with any leader with a view of looking for ways to bring the Nation together.
