Chief Justice David Maraga’s Tuesday defense on judiciary and other officers from the same discipline could instill authority of the law keeping body.
A furious Maraga accused section of parliament and executive members of allegedly interfering with the duties of the third arm of government.
In his bombshell, Maraga maintained that he will not allow outsiders to dictate the judiciary of how to execute its mandate.
“We have observed unprecedented events and personal attacks targeting individual judges. The Judiciary will not bow and we shall execute our mandate on accordance to the constitution.
“Those who may not be happy can as well call for a referendum and abolish the judiciary but before that, we shall continue serving Kenyans,” he said.
To abolish the judiciary, one must collect at least a million signatures which must be verified by the IEBC before plebiscite is called.
The latest warning from the President of Supreme Court could yet against instill fear from among members of other arms of government over his firm stand on the rule of law.
