Barely a week after Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i released 2017 KCSE examination results, Maranda High School Principal Boaz Owino has been transferred to Nyambaria High in Nyamira County. Owino, who is expected to take over Gerald Orina, is among the school heads who have been transferred by Teachers Service Commission.
Maranda got two As in this year's KCSE exam results compared to 2016 when they had 68 before the transfer of the head. The mass transfer saw several teachers from different counties across the region presented with transfer letters outside their counties.
Earlier on, Matiang’i had said that the education ministry will transfer the heads of different schools in a bid to delocalize them for better performance.
Kereri Girls head teacher Esther Ongondi has been transferred to Migori while Teresa Atieno Otieno is anticipated to replace her.
St Charles Lwanga Ichuni Girls Principal Joyce Orioki has been transferred to Nyabururu Girls national school, whose former head Mary Stella Chitechi resigned to join the Aga Khan Foundation.
Mary Lucy Obondo from Siaya is expected to take over St Charles Lwanga Ichuni.
Kakamega High School’s principals Oliver Munishi has been transferred to Nanyuki. Hellen Mabese, who was the principal of Sironga Girls principal has been transferred to Moi Girls Kapsowar in Elgeyo Marakwet.
