Roadside traders at Marani Town in Kisii County have been warned against conducting their businesses near busy roads to avoid accidents.
This comes after a female trader was involved in an accident on Monday in the town while selling clothes by the roadside.
Speaking at Marani town on Monday the officer in charge levy collection in Marani district Samuel Ondima regretted that many traders who conduct their business near busy roads have been involved in accidents. He said vehicles and bodaboda operators using the roads pose a danger to the traders urging them to maintain a safe distance from roads.
“This is not the first time our business people here in Marani complaining that bodaboda operators and vehicle drivers hit them but now we can’t take action against those bodaboda operator since the solution is to order all traders to keep distance from conducting their business near roads," he said.
Meanwhile the traders have been urged to keep the Marani town Clean by avoiding littering. They have been told to use and dustbins, which are provided in the town.
“We have been seeing litter all over Marani Town but we have not yet arrested anyone. Let me warn that whoever is found littering will arrested and fined heavily,” added Ondima.
