Former National Assembly speaker Kenneth Marende has confirmed that he is in the race for Nairobi governor in the upcoming general elections.
Marende, who is currently the chairman of the board of directors of Kenya Power said he will resign to contest for the city's top job.
“I have a transformative mind and want to reclaim the capital city’s lost glory. If you look around Nairobi now, there is dirt all over. This is bad for our health,” Marende noted.
However, the former speaker declined to name the political party whose ticket he intends to seek.
“I won’t reveal that for now but I confirm I am in the race. I have three options but will settle on one once I resign,” he said.
