Margaret will be the chief guest at a charity event set to be held on Tuesday at the Brittney Home of Grace in Migori County.

According to the organisers, the First Lady will distribute carts and open a medical clinic in the area.

Brittney Home of Grace is a charitable organisation that supports orphaned and vulnerable children, as well as offer home-based care assistance to people living with disabilities.

The visit by the First Lady to Nyanza region which is opposition leader Raila Odinga's home turf comes in the wake of shifting political alliances following the famous handshake between Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The two leaders buried the hatchet last month and resolved to work together to unite the country.

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria was on Saturday expected to preside over a harambee at a Church in Homa Bay County where he was also expected to address the public.

Political analysts see the visits by high profile Jubilee leaders as preparation for Uhuru's mega rally in Raila's backyard in the coming weeks.

Four counties in Nyanza; Kisumu, Siaya, Migori and Homa Bay did not participate in last year's October 26 repeat election in which President Kenyatta was declared validly elected.

The region, however, has been warming up to the Jubilee Party leader following his reconciliation with Raila.
