Residents of Mariaini village in Gituamba ward have lamented poor roads that have hindered them to properly ferry tea leaves for processing to buying centres.
The residents noted that the road which is categorised for Kiambu county development was poorly renovated.
"We have had a difficult time in transporting our tea-leaves to buying centres especially after the rain started. The county through Decent contractors did a shoddy work leaving us to suffer," said Jane Mwangi, a resident.
"Most of us are forced to use bodaboda as the means of transport which the riders have taken as an advantage and hiked transport fares; we are suffering and our MCA Sammy Ng’ang’a should hear this and act," said Moses Karume, a resident.
The residents also noted that poor trenches were built making the drainage block water from moving thus making the road muddy and impassable.
"We want the county to repair this road again and better for better movements. We have had a difficult time with moving our tea leaves, our own movement and that of our kids who we expect to be back in school from tomorrow," lamented Anthony Karuga, a resident.
The residents blamed the ward MCA for not playing his oversight role well and instead blinding residents with a shoddy project.
They have vowed to demonstrate if the road is not immediately reconstructed.
"We give the county two weeks to respond to our road issue lest we making demonstrations to the headquarters," said Nancy Wangechi a businesswoman in the area.
