Speaking yesterday in Mariashoni, the farmers blamed the responsible authorities for failing to take action despite the reports which they have made.

“Baboons have eaten almost half an acre of my maize plantation. If the trend continues, we will lack food next year. We have reported the matter to KWS but they are slowing down,” said John Kibor, the affected farmer.

Another farmer claimed that he is forced to guard his farm against the wild animals daily.

“I no longer get the time to engage in other economical activities as I spent the whole day guarding my farm,” said Meshack Sitonik.

Confirming the incident, the area chief said that his office have received the complains and is working with KWS to resolve the problem. He urged the farmers not to kill the wild animals.
