Marsabit governor hopeful’s debate will be held tomorrow (Thursday) at the Catholic Hall in Marsabit town, Interfaith Council Chairman Sheikh Mohamednur Kuli has said.

In an interview with the Star on Tuesday, Kuli said that invitations have been send out to all governor aspirants and their running mates.

He said that the debate will be an opportunity for aspirants to tell locals the agenda they have for them.

“We have invited them (governor hopefuls) and we expect them to attend and explain to residents their agendas,” Sheikh Kuli said.

Sheikh Kuli said that locals have a lot of expectations and that the debate will provide a platform for them to gauge on who they will elect on August 8.

Several aspirants have declared interest to send the incumbent Ukur Yattani packing.

The candidates in the race are Umuro Adano vying on Kanu ticket, Mahamud Mohamed contesting on Jubilee party ticket and Ibrahim Wario vying on ODM ticket.

Meanwhile Sheikh Kuli has pleaded with politicians to preach peace and shun acts that could cause animosity among residents.

He said that politicians need to tone down stating that the August 8 polls is not a matter of life and death.
